Where we help

Security buyers are experts, and they can tell when a product was built without a practitioner in the room. We sit in that seat for you.

Product & roadmap strategy

Pressure-test your roadmap against real SOC and security-engineering workflows. Decide what to build, what to cut, and what buyers will pay for.

Detection & content engineering

Design detections, analytics, and playbooks that hold up in production. Mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, tuned for low noise, documented for analysts.

SIEM & platform integrations

Get your data where customers already work. We plan and review integrations, field mappings, and marketplace apps so they install cleanly and make sense to admins.

Securing your own product

A security vendor can't afford its own breach. Threat modeling, cloud architecture review, and readiness for the questionnaires your first enterprise buyers will send.

Practitioner validation

Hands-on evaluation of your product the way a security team would run a proof of concept, with a candid written report before your customers do it for you.

Technical credibility

Demos, docs, and technical content that speak the buyer's language. Useful for launches, analyst briefings, and sales engineering.

Why us

Operators first

We've been on the buying side: running security programs, living in the SIEM, and sitting through vendor demos. That perspective is what we bring to your team.

01 · Perspective

We think like your buyer

Feedback grounded in how security teams actually evaluate, deploy, and operate tools day to day.

02 · Hands-on

We do the work

Rules, mappings, architecture reviews, and written reports. You get deliverables, not slide decks.

03 · Size

Small on purpose

You work directly with the people doing the work. No hand-offs to junior staff, no bloated statements of work.

How it works

A typical engagement

Every startup is different, but most engagements follow the same arc.

  1. Discovery

    about 1 week

We learn your product, market, and customers, and agree on the outcomes that matter most right now.

  2. Build & review

    2 to 6 weeks

Focused, hands-on work alongside your engineers and product team, with regular check-ins and working drafts.

  3. Hand-off

    final week

Documented deliverables your team can own, plus a clear list of what to tackle next.

Engagements

Ways to work together

Pick the shape that fits your stage. We'll scope it together on the first call.

Focused sprint

Best for: a defined problem

Fixed scope, fixed timeline. A detection pack, an integration review, a threat model, or a practitioner POC.

Advisory retainer

Best for: seed to Series A

Ongoing access to a practitioner for roadmap reviews, customer calls, and design decisions as they come up.

Fractional product security

Best for: pre-enterprise sales

Part-time ownership of your own security posture until you're ready to hire a full-time leader.

About

Security that makes sense

InfoSec Report started as a place to write about security from the practitioner's side. It's now a small consultancy built on the same idea: security products should make sense to the people who defend real environments.

Founded by Robert, a working security practitioner with hands-on experience in security operations, SIEM engineering, and cloud security architecture. We work with a small number of startups at a time so each one gets real attention.
